Governor Stitt appointed State Chief Financial Officer Aaron Morris as interim director of the Oklahoma Health Care Authority. A later official announcement naming a replacement Cabinet Secretary of Health was not located during this research pass, so this page does not present an unverified successor.

All 101 House seats are elected at the same time every two years. House members therefore serve concurrent two-year terms, with the entire chamber on the regular election cycle in each even-numbered election year.

How Oklahoma’s Executive Branch Works

Quick structural reference from Oklahoma government sources.

Governor
The Governor is Oklahoma’s chief executive. Duties include ensuring state laws are faithfully executed, submitting budget recommendations, signing or vetoing legislation, filling many vacancies by appointment, and serving as commander in chief of the state militia.
Lieutenant Governor
The Lieutenant Governor is independently elected, serves as President of the Oklahoma State Senate, and serves on multiple constitutional boards and commissions.
Independent Statewide Officers
Oklahoma separately elects the Attorney General, Treasurer, Auditor & Inspector, Superintendent of Public Instruction, Commissioner of Labor, Insurance Commissioner, and three Corporation Commissioners.
Cabinet System
The Governor organizes executive agencies into cabinet areas and appoints cabinet secretaries. State law limits the cabinet system to no more than 15 cabinet areas; many appointments require Senate confirmation.
Secretary of State
The Secretary of State records and maintains executive, legislative and other official state actions and also oversees functions including administrative rules, business filings, initiative and referendum petitions, public meeting notices and other statutory duties.
Executive Agencies
Oklahoma’s executive branch includes departments, agencies, boards, commissions and authorities. Many are led by gubernatorial appointees or governing boards, while several major offices are independently elected statewide.
